Hungry? $5 Food Worldwide


$5 in Australia can buy you 3 pounds of bananas. Cool, right? Unless you’re in Ethiopia, where the same amount of money could buy you 25 pounds. Eating a surplus of bananas doesn’t turn you yellow, does it?

Switzerland is the most expensive country I’ve ever been to, but somehow it’s considered affordable among these statistics.

Just a little further over from the Swiss are the Swedes, where $5 will only get you .65 of a Big Mac at McDonalds. Maybe that’s how they’re all so skinny!

China is one of the more affordable nations, with a fiver being enough to purchase 57 eggs there. And though one can of Sapporo in $5 in Japan, in China that same change could get you 12 bottles.

I don’t know what you’re cooking with all these bananas and eggs and beer, but it sounds delicious.
