Disaster Capitalism with Naomi Klein
Famed author of NO LOGO, Nation columnist Naomi Klein explores a key argument from her new book, The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism. She argues that after 9/11, the Bush Administration launched a new economy, driven by the notion of an endless war against an undefined notion of evil.
She argues that difficult economic reforms can only get passed following periods of shock, either in the form of natural disaster … or war. This is the story of the rise of extreme privatization, corporatization and neo-conservatism. This video sees her share some of her thoughts about the rise of disaster capitalism and its implications for us all.
