Biomimicry in Architecture
Biomimicry goes beyond standard approaches in achieving sustainable design. A growing number of commentators see it as a major source of new solutions, leading the world “from the Industrial Age to the Ecological Age of mankind”.
Biomimicry in Nature is written by architect Michael Pawlyn who was part of a core team that designed the Eden Project. He describes how the discipline of using nature as a source-book can provide a radical tool for design innovation.
Nature can be viewed as a series of products that have all benefitted from a 3.8 billion year research and development period. All the faulty products are withdrawn from the marketplace supporting design solutions that equip the world for the challenges of building a sustainable future.
