Tips Involving Customised Sticker Labels

Stickers and labels range from plain white labels everyone can turn into address labels to unique batches of stickers given to exclusive customers. Yet there are a number of mistakes anyone can make when ordering sticker labels. Here are a few tips involving customized stickers and labels regardless of how many and what type you want to order.

Think about How They’ll Be Used Before You Order

Many businesses buy beautiful, personalized stickers without considering the end-use. For example, stickers that are too large to fit in your standard mailers will either be trimmed, discarded or put in new, specially purchased mailers. It would be much easier to determine the maximum allowed size of the sticker and then order based on that information.

Consider where the stickers will be located once they’ve been applied. Stickers that are exposed to the sun should be treated with UV protectant unless you don’t care if they fade. Choose stickers that can weather the elements, if it is going to be exposed to the wind and rain. If the stickers will be on heavily used items like book covers and notebooks, choose heavy-duty material and adhesive to match. Rounded corners might reduce the wear and tear on the stickers, too.

Be Realistic in Your Usage Projections

When someone buys personalized stickers for marketing, they may imagine them being placed everywhere. In reality, that’s the equivalent to blasting everyone on your mailing list with spam marketing messages. You can use personalized stickers, but they should be shared strategically. Send them in packages to new customers and repeat customers, but don’t include them in every bill or invoice you send. If you’re going to give out the stickers at a public event, expect 10 percent of attendees to consider taking them, instead of ordering as many stickers as there are attendees.

Being conservative with your order size has several benefits. You are saving money, if you end up changing the design or never using them all. Furthermore, you’re more willing to make changes if you have a smaller lot size. Then you aren’t using old stickers out of guilt for the amount of money sunk into their purchase. It reduces the amount of space you have to devote to inventory, too.

Shop Around

It is easy to pay too much for stickers and labels. Shop around. Learn about the different materials and printing options available. You don’t want to buy a cheap material only to find that it falls apart once applied. You don’t want to pay for a cheap print job and end up with obviously cheap stickers and labels. Balance quality with cost.

When you’re about to place the order, do your research regarding vendors. Do they have a reputation for quality? Do they guarantee the delivery time and the quality of the product? What can you do if they’re late or the product off their printing press looks bad? Can they connect you with one of their printing experts to verify that the color palette you’ve selected will result in true colors when printed on the material you’ve selected? You might learn that little tweaks in the colors, ink or manufacturing methods could save you a lot of time or money.
