How Avaaz is Using Social Media to Revolutionize the World
An initiative put forward by Avaaz is supported its members and continuously gains traction through their social media networks. On Facebook alone, the Avaaz page has over 492,000 likes to go along with their 452,000 Twitter followers.
The organization thanks technology as they understand that without the advent of the internet and social media, their causes and achievements would not have been able to achieve the same magnitude.
Along with the support of celebrities, and even politicians like Al Gore, Avaaz is able to give a voice to the global citizen, which is a fitting idea as “avaaz” is translated to mean “voice” in many European, Middle Eastern and Asian languages.
Nikki got her first taste of journalism as a teenager working for The Mississauga News. Since then, she’s graduated from the Ryerson School of Journalism and also travelled to the United Kingdom to intern for the London Daily Express. She now works and freelances in the online world.
